444612 Private Samuel Roper, Labour Corps.
Formerly 24195 Private, 6th Battalion The Queen's (Royal West Kent) Regiment.
Died, France/Flanders on the 13th November 1918.
Samuel Roper died following the amputation of his right leg that had been severely injured in an accident at Bolbec Station, France on the 13th November 1918. He was the son of John and Elizebeth Roper of 27, Elmwood Street, Burnley. His wife Edith and daughter Annie (later Annie Harrison) lived at the same address. Prior to enlisting he had been employed at Emmott's Wood Top Mill as a weaver, and attended Howard Street School.
Buried at Le Havre Military Cemetery, France.
