1st Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment.

Born Huncoat, Lancashire, enlisted, Accrington, Lancashire, living at Hapton, Lancashire.

Killed in action, France/Flanders, 29 June 1915.

Commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.

The Cemetery Register records that he was serving in "C" Company of the battalion at the time of his death, aged 17, and the son of Jonathon and Elizabeth Floyd of 5, Lane Ends, Hapton, Burnley, Lancashire.

HAPTON SOLDIER KILLED.

It is reported that Private J Floyd, of the 1st Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment, son of Mr Jonathon Floyd of Lane Ends, Hapton, was killed in France on June 29th. Floyd, who was only 17 years of age last November, enlisted on the 28th of December 1914. He formerly worked as a clothlooker at Walton's Mill, Hapton.
